Personal Effectiveness - Butterflies In My Stomach

Updated: Feb 17

Even after 20 years of training I still get 'butterflies in my stomach' before the start of every new batch. Does it mean that I am still not confident about my capabilities as a Trainer? No it doesn't.

What it means is, I realise that future success is not guaranteed by past success and that I must not take my future workshops for granted just because I have done similar workshops successfully in the past. I should also not become complacent or overconfident as that could lead to my downfall.

The feeling of 'butterflies in my stomach' helps me stay grounded & humble. It also reinforces the importance of proper planning & preparation before every session, both new or repeat. Since no two participants are the same, I cannot afford to develop the arrogant approach of 'I have done this before so I can now do it with my eyes closed.'
