1. Make eye contact when you greet. Greeting without eye contact is just a formality whereas with eye contact it shows you care and that you're genuinely happy to see them.
2. Always smile when you greet. Nobody like a grumpy greeting or a sour one.
3. Respect boundaries. Maintain a respectful and non threatening distance when you greet & smile.
4. Take the name of the person with respect, irrespective of age or designation. Whether it is the CEO you are greeting or the Guard, there should be no partiality in the way you say hello to both of them. After all, you are acknowledging the individual, not his position.
5. Don't manipulate your greetings, i.e. don't greet only because you now have work with that person. People easily see through such fake nicety.
6. Just as you would happily say 'Hello' to people, equally happily say 'Thank You' to them for any help or support they may have given you, no matter how big or small, and also irrespective of their designation & position.
Show them you care.
